Computer Vision Engineer
Pittsburgh, PA | Full-Time | On-Site
Glintect is a high-velocity startup engineering custom machine vision systems for automated visual inspection across manufacturing industries. Our platforms enable production facilities to detect and flag defects in real time — before non-conforming product ever leaves the line.
We are seeking a skilled Computer Vision Engineer to build and maintain the real-time image processing pipelines that power our inspection systems. You will own the full stack from camera calibration and image acquisition through preprocessing, inference integration, and results visualization on the production floor.
You’ll work alongside machine learning engineers and hardware specialists to bring perception systems from prototype to production. The emphasis is on robustness, real-time throughput, and seamless integration with factory environments.
What You’ll Do
• Design and implement real-time image acquisition and preprocessing pipelines for high-speed industrial cameras.
• Develop camera calibration routines, lens distortion correction, and multi-camera synchronization workflows.
• Integrate trained ML models into production inference pipelines, optimizing for low-latency, high-throughput operation.
• Build defect localization, visualization, and alerting modules that communicate results to operators in real time.
• Implement classical computer vision algorithms (filtering, morphological operations, feature extraction) to complement deep learning approaches.
• Maintain and extend the SDK/API layer that connects inspection hardware with our cloud-based analytics platform.
• Troubleshoot field deployments: diagnose image quality issues, lighting inconsistencies, and pipeline bottlenecks on-site or remotely.
• Contribute to hardware selection decisions: camera specs, lens choices, lighting configurations, and frame grabber interfaces.
What We’re Looking For
• 3+ years of experience building production computer vision systems, ideally in industrial or embedded contexts.
• Strong proficiency in Python and C++ for real-time image processing.
• Deep familiarity with OpenCV and GStreamer or equivalent video pipeline tooling.
• Experience interfacing with industrial cameras via GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, or similar standards.
• Solid understanding of imaging optics, illumination techniques, and calibration methodology.
• Experience deploying inference pipelines on edge devices (NVIDIA Jetson, Intel NUC, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with ROS or industrial communication protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus) is a plus.
• Detail-oriented engineer who takes pride in system reliability and deterministic real-time behavior.
Compensation: This role offers a competitive base salary, comprehensive healthcare benefits, and eligibility for early employee equity participation.
Location: The preferred candidate will be based in Pittsburgh, PA and willing to work in person at the company’s Uptown office.
To Apply: Send your resume, a brief introductory note, and any supporting materials to zach@glintect.com.
